- Things you need to know:
-
- 1) The date shown on the printed report as the date printed is the
- system date. You can set or change it with the DOS command DATE. You
- must however exit PC-loans to do this. Look up the DATE command in
- your DOS manual.
-
- 2) If you get garbage on the screen, you must install the ANSI.SYS
- device driver.
-
- To do this you must have a file called CONFIG.SYS on your
- boot disk. This file must have the following line somewhere.
-
- device=ansi.sys
-
- It matters not whether it is the first, second, or thirty third
- line in the file. If you already have the file CONFIG.SYS on your
- boot disk, you can edit it to add this line. If it is not there,
- you can create it with your word processor using the ASCII mode,
- or (heaven forbid) you can use the DOS editor EDLINE.
-
- ****************************************************************
- IF YOU USE A WORD PROCESSOR, BE SURE TO USE THE ASCII TEXT MODE.
- If you save the file in a non ASCII format DOS most likely will
- not be able to read it when your system boots.
- ****************************************************************
-
- You must also have the file ANSI.SYS on your boot disk. If it is
- not there, you can find it on your original DOS disk. It is standard
- equipment with all MS-PC-DOS machines. If you cannot find it, contact
- your dealer. You paid for it. You should have it.
-
- This driver is installed when the system is booted up. Thus you must
- reboot the system for it to become effective.
-
- If all this fails, read the DOS manual. Look in the index for config.sys
- and ansi.sys.
-
-
- 3) If you don't like the name of the program, you can change it
- to any name you like by using the DOS rename command like this.
-
- A:>RENAME PC-LOANS.EXE NEW-NAME.EXE
-
- or A:>RENAME AMORTIZE.EXE NEW-NAME.EXE
-
-
- The characters before the period may be any eight (or fewer)letters
- or numbers. Most other characrers will work but the period "." will
- not. The three characters after the period MUST BE "EXE".
-
- 5) PC-loans is the public domain version of AMORTIZE. You may, and are in
- fact encouraged to distribute it to friends, associates, and clients.
- the public domain version is called pc-loans. The professional version
- is called amortize. If you distribute copies of the public domain
- version, they shoud be named PC-LOANS, and this file must be included.
- Do not change the name.
